Airport Management Workshop

Course Rationale
Airport safety and efficiency can be enhanced through the current trend of airport privatization and contracting of primary airport operational services. This is achieved when the airport operator conscientiously implements the civil airport regulations, and the civil aviation authority provides safety oversight inspections to validate airport compliance.
New changes to ICAO Annex 14, Aerodromes, have further defined the obligations of the airport operator, and the obligations of the civil aviation authority for safety oversight. Civil aviation authorities must provide the guidelines to certify airports. International airports must be certified by 27 November 2003. This obligation is achieved through the development of a civil aviation authority, with appropriate guidance material, inspectors who are empowered to enforce these regulations, and airport operators who implement their regulatory obligations and maintain compliance with these regulations.
