Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Civil Airspace
Course Rationale
UAS technologies and civil airspace procedures are evolving in many important ways. Government and Aviation professionals need to understand emerging UAS technologies and associated operations and learn how they may integrate into and impact the National Airspace System (NAS).
Course Description
This course will be a primer on the challenges confronting government and industry in providing unmanned aircraft systems access to civil airspace. Topics covered will include descriptions of aircraft types and missions, specific policy and technical issues that may mitigate the major airspace integration challenges.
Intended Audience
The Unmanned Aircraft Systems and Civil Airspace Course is aimed at engineers and managers who have no background in UAS operations but whose responsibilities dictate that they become familiar with this important area. For example, these might include:
- FAA and International Civil Aviation Authorities
- Department of Homeland Security
- Department of Defense, Interior and Agriculture
- Industry and Commercial UAS manufacturers
- State and Local Governments: Law enforcement
Cost
